However, Uranus was a bad father and husband. He hated his children the Hecatoncheires and the Titans. He imprisoned them. All were too afraid except the youngest Titan, Cronus. One night, Gaia and Cronus set up an ambush. As Uranus was lying next to Gaia, Cronus grabbed his father and castrated him. He then became the next ruler and married his sister Rhea. Cronus swallowed each one of his children at birth. As Rhea wanted to save one of her children, she gave a pile of cloths and passed it off to Cronus as the baby, who swallowed it. She hid the baby. This child was Zeus.
